Barber Foods has announced that they will be cutting jobs after being sold to an Ohio-based company late last month.

Officials have said that the layoffs do not have anything to do with the acquisition, but because of new processing equipment that has been in development for a year.

AdvancePierre were two companies that emerged after the Florida-based company Pierre Foods filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. Barber Foods, which is newly acquired, will now be assessed in order to see what employees will be let go. It is thought that 80 manufacturing jobs will be cut at their Portland plant.
